” Oh What A Night”
DJ Payne Corp. has been in business for 46 years. Yes, it all began 46 years ago, on that hot steamy august morning in 1969, when Steven Berliant walk in to Rod Green office. Rod looked up over his desk and stared quietly at the young man that stood across the room quietly staring back. The two men stayed staring at each other for what seemed like hours. Finally, Rod, the older man spoke the word “yes.”
Relieved that he had won thethe first encounter by not speaking first, Steve responded ” I understand that you are looking for a partner?” and the second yes was uttered by Rod. So begins an unbelievable success story. Steve become partners in DJ Payne and the brokerage sales company take off.
In 1970 Steve grows a magnificent mustache
In 1974 Steve loses the mustache.
In 1975 the partners out grow the house that they were using for offices. Steve’s partner Rod, sells Steve his interest in the business and retires to Florida. Steve now moves to a commercial building and adds professional sales people, skilled support staff and a “professional bean counter”. The business becomes a sophisticated operation and the growth continues. Steve, also contemplates bring back “THE STACHE.”
In 1980 Steve opens Mass Distributors Warehouse, Inc. He initiates a revolutionary new sales concept. the philosophy of this warehouse project was to grow his factory lines with customers so they could buy the quantities that the manufacturer needed for a direct sale. Unlike competitive warehouse’s, he did not view his warehouse as losing business when the distributors wanted to buy direct from factories.
In 2000, DJ Payne moves to their own facility. An 85000 square foot warehouse and office building. And the business continues to grow. In fact it has grown each year of our 46 years.
In 2015 the company takes quantum leap and upgrades their IT systems to state of the art technologies. DJ Payne Corp. is poised for a record sales future.
In 2018 An elaborate new SHOW ROOM is built. The Mustache still under consideration. Thankfully, no news on the “Stache” is good news!
